A fascinating experience 30 August, 2015 Betty L Hong Kong China (Trip Advisor)
We drove from Melbourne to Sydney and stayed in the farm in the middle of the journey. It is a perfect place to stop…
The hosts of the farm Jane and Peter are very friendly…. We have been top many farms before as my 10 year old loves farm animals and this is among the best. My daughter kept feeding sheep, alpacas and chickens all day long.
Remember to order green sald which is good.

Fantastic place to stay whether for 2 nights or longer. Jann & Peter the owners are very welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. We had 2 families of 5 people in 2 of the 2 bed Loft Cottages, they were very comfortable and the beds were amazing. 2 very modern bathrooms, nice kitchen with all you would need. The fridge was stocked with fresh milk, bacon, eggs, condiments, everything the make your stay easy. Kids didn’t want to leave….We bought Walkie Talkie’s for the trip and the kids took off and explored the countryside and kept in touch. The younger ones took off and fed Ben the pony, the chickens and sheep. Peter took the kids out to feed the Alpacas in the Buggy which they thoroughly enjoyed. This was a last minutes booking and we couldn’t have been more pleased with it….. Thanks Jann and Peter for a wonderful stay

What a fantastic stop over. Hillview Farmstay was exactly half way between our travel destination and exactly what we needed. The cottages and the surrounding gardens are gorgeous. We were welcomed by Thomas who was extremely friendly and soon got us settled. Our children loved feeding Mystery the sheep and patting the pony. Beds were SO comfy and the cottages were extremely neat and tidy. Not to mention the enormous breakfast provisions supplied. We’ll definitely be back.
Outstanding for kids and adults alike Leanne F Sydney July 2015 (Trip Advisor)
We stayed as a party of three families. Two families shared the 4 bedroom house (total 4 adults and 5 kids) and there was plenty of room. We were the third family (2 adults and 2 kids) and stayed in a 2 bedroom loft next door the 4 bed. Each evening we would meet in the 4 bedroom and have dinner together-again plenty of room for all. The kids loved feeding the animals and just generally being on the farm. The adults loved that the kids could safely do their own thing and that we could join as one big group or separate into our family units. We did a day trip to Mt. Selwyn (2 hours each way) and also into Tumut on a separate day. Outstanding location for families from both Sydney and Melbourne (we came from both and therefor it was ultra convenient). Went to Tumblong Tavern on the Sunday for the markets. Finally, Peter and Jann are outstanding hosts. Friendly but not intrusive. They lit a campfire each night and left out marshmallows to toast- which the kids loved as well. Will definitely be back.
We stayed at Hillview overnight as a half way stop over with our two children and we had a lovely time. We arrived late and were greeted with a hot potato bake, steak, sausages and a lovely garden salad. It was great that we didn’t have to worry about dinner and the food was very tasty and there was a lot of it.
I stayed at Hillview this weekend with a large group for a family reunion. The farmstay was chosen because of its great location between all travelling parties. It was only 2 hours drive from Canberra, and is quite close to Wagga. We booked all the cabins and had about 18 people staying together just for one night. Firstly, I was pleasantly surprised at the gorgeous modern facilities and hotel-standard beds, linen and bathrooms. We used the big cabin as our common room/ meeting place because it has a very large lounge/dining/kitchen area. At the back of the large cabin we were able to set up lots of tables and chairs to eat meals together and do art. The gardens are lovely and peaceful, and being country-folk all, we felt very at home! Most of the beds are King-size and are very comfortable. The noise from the highway could rarely be heard, and we all slept soundly. There’s a great tennis court and plenty of animals to see if that’s what you’re interested in.” (Tripadvisor Nov 2012)
The accommodation was lovely – big beds with nice clean linen, a bathroom for each bedroom, lots of pillow choices, nice clean BBQ, a well set up kitchen and plenty of provisions for breakfast (cereal, bacon, eggs, toast, jams, juice and milk. we even had the leftover sausages from the night before on the BBQ in the morning). There was no bath for the kids in the 2 room loft apartment, but this was not a problem for us.
Fantastic accommodation and convenient location”
We have stayed at Hillview twice now travelling between Sydney and Melbourne and have been very impressed each time we have stayed. The location is great, being just outside Gundagai, so a perfect half-way stop between Sydney and Melbourne.
The accommodation is great – spacious and very clean. There is a kitchen and some breakfast provisions provided which is very thoughful. We also stopped along the way and bought supplies for dinner. Be warned that you can’t just duck down to the shops for supplies as there are none nearby, so arrive with what you need.
We look forward to staying here again on our next road trip.”

“The cottage was quiet even though close to the Hume, the animals were great fun and owners really friendly. It was a great break from the drive.”

Dear Jann & Peter
We just wanted to thank you for taking us in at such short notice on Friday evening and providing such lovely accommodation for us on our trip to Victoria.
Hours away from home it was very stressful having the motel we had booked and paid for through Wotif claim they did not have a room for us – and we thought we might end up sleeping in the car! But Wotif were superb – finding us alternate accommodation with yourselves – and you were just wonderful making sure we got to you easily and having everything we needed, (and more), prepared for us.
It’s very rare that we get away without the children and what could have been a really awful start to our weekend was transformed into a magical start. From the verandah of your cabin we watched the moon set over the western hills and the sun rise over the eastern hills, slept soundly and had a delicious breakfast.
Thank you so much for your hospitality. We appreciated it more than we can say.
Gareth & Ruth
